As of September 1, 2025, products containing the ingredient TPO may no longer be sold and used.
TPO descriptions:
- Trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide,
- Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide,
- (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) phosphine oxide.
TPO-L, TMO and BAPO are still allowed and this is very similar to TPO in terms of abbreviation. So check your label carefully and don’t panic, at Urban Nails you will be fine! We prepare you and your salon – with a nice action and the right products.
💡 Why is TPO being banned?
European regulations are further tightening cosmetic legislation to ensure health and safety. TPO has come under scrutiny in this regard. Although it was a common ingredient in gel products for years, it will no longer be allowed as of Sept. 1. Urban Nails was already ahead of this development and has made its product line largely TPO-free in recent years.
