Structure Gel is a base you can also build with. A must have in the cabinet of every nail stylist as far as we are concerned!
Structure Gel
The perfect product to perform a Natural Nail Treatment without suffering from discoloration. Thebig difference between Structure Gel and Rubber Base is the acidity, with a difference in adhesion as a result. Rubber Base is the best base for adhesion to the natural nail and to prevent lifting.
For this reason, it is advisable to apply a thin layer of Rubber Base Clear and then continue to build up the ‘BIAB/RIAB’ with the Structure Gel. Structure Gel gives a firmer base than the RIAB, ideal for those clients who need a little extra firmness. So the combination Rubber Base & Structure Gel is the secret to a firm, long-lasting and beautiful Natural Nail Treatment.
RIAB
BIAB stands for Builder in A Bottle and RIAB stands for Rubber Base Gel in a Bottle. Urban Nails is the pioneer of Rubber Base Gel (RBG). We were the first brand to introduce this Base Gel in Europe in 2017. RBG contains a special ingredient, a type of glue, which provides adhesion to the natural nails. RBG causes a pinched nail effect with long-term repeated use in less than 1 year. This changes the nail shape from flat to a nice C-curve. BIAB/RIAB products are porous. RIAB attracts moisture from outside, but also sucks moisture and grease from the natural nail plate. The product thus “sucks in” as it were. Result: The natural nail contracts in a C curve. If old product is left in place, the “sucking and pulling system” continues, which can cause the nail plate to dry out from about 9 – 12 months. Without 2x daily oiling, this can eventually lead to hyperkeratosis, due to excess fluids on the nail plate. RBG has a high acidity and thus a low PH, but it also has the action of a sponge. The lower the PH, the higher the sponge effect. The thickness of the nail plate also plays a role, with a thin nail plate you are more likely to suffer from hyperkeratosis. If you renew rather than touch up a client’s set every month, you slow down that process. However, external factors can also play a role. Advise your client to wear gloves when doing a lot of water/liquid – work.
For these reasons, you must be very intentional about working with RBG. The nails may curve through to a “trumpet shape,” which is not desirable. To avoid this, you can use the combination with Structure Gel as mentioned above.
RBG is very suitable for patients coming out of chemotherapy, or for clients who have oily or moist nail plates, as it offers very good adhesion. It is even suitable for placement under acrylics. Clients suffering from lifting? Success guaranteed! RBG can burn under the lamp, therefore harden it on low heat. The (high) heat spikes that Rubber can give (when burning in the lamp), cause onycholysis (loosening of the nail plate) if used too long, which is best avoided. Prolonged use of RBG can dry out the nail and cause Keratin Granulation. These are white spots on the nail plate, which can be prevented by properly nourishing the nail with oil. Therefore, advise your client to oil the nails daily as well.
When using RBG directly under Gel Polish, pink and red shades can cause discoloration. Therefore, a build-up with structure gel is also recommended to avoid this.
